SUMMARY:Day Of Service
DESCRIPTION:Earth Day – Day of Service \nOn Sunday\, April 23rd\, we will not have a worship service at Crossroads.  Instead\, we are asking for people to join in an Earth Day project that day.  Two different projects have been planned during our normal time of worship.  Read the details below to see how to participate and how to donated needed supplies for that day. \n\nInto the Woods \nAid in removing invasive plants\, clearing branches and obstructions on walking paths and pick up garbage in the Arboretum Woods located between BrightStar Care Facility and the entrance to the Arboretum Village Neighborhood.  Meet in the BrightStar Parking Lot (1001 Quin Dr. Waunakee to the west of Crossroads UMC off of Arboretum Dr) at 9:30am Sun Apr 23rd\, for some coffee\, food and instructions to prepare for the work that day.  Bring gardening gloves and wear attire appropriate for time in the woods.  Tools needed will be provided and bathrooms will be available as needed. \n  \nSeeds of Love \nCome to Laubmeier Park (1155 Prairie View Drive\, Waunakee – in new Arboretum Village Neighborhood to the north of Crossroads UMC just off of Hogan Rd) at 9:30am on Sun Apr 23rd to plant your own herbs and vegetable seeds in starter “pods” and then help plant seeds in pots to be given to assisted living residents in the Waunakee Area.  Please bring paper egg cartons\, gardening gloves if you don’t want to get muddy\, a trowel if you have one\, and appropriate clothing.  Coffee and snacks will be provided. \n\nDonations of paper egg cartons (Styrofoam and plastic cartons cannot be used) and 6-8” clay or reusable pots are needed and appreciated.  You can bring your donations that day or can be brought to Crossroads any time before Sun Apr 23rd. If the church is not open\, place your donations by the front door. \n\nWe plan to hold this event even if it is lightly raining.  If we have severe weather\, we will move the Seeds of Love event to the basement of Crossroads Church (5901 Hogan Rd\, Waunakee) and will reschedule the Day in the Woods. \n\nAgain\, there will be NO worship service at Crossroads on Sunday\, April 23rd.  Please use the time you would have been in worship\, in service for the care of the earth and our community.

SUMMARY:Good Friday
DESCRIPTION:Of all the questions in our series\, this one remains the most unanswerable. Jesus quotes the psalmist when he cries out on the cross\, “My God\, my God\, why have you forsaken me?” His final lament gives voice to all those who have been forsaken—those who suffer injustice\, those who are abandoned\, those who are unjustly convicted. Instead of trying to answer this question with logic or theology\, we are invited to live it\, to sit with it. Sitting with this unsettling question unearths and unveils many more questions: What do we do in the face of unimaginable suffering? Can we sit in the silence of death and trust that God is there? Can we allow ourselves to feel the fullness of loss? Will we be in solidarity with those who suffer and grieve? What do we say with our last breath?

SUMMARY:Bilingual Maundy Thursday Celebration
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to join the English & Scripture growth group in a time of gathering and breaking bread together. \nA prayer labyrinth will invite you to pause and pray before you enter the space of gathering. A prayer station with candles and prayer cards will center you in Jesus and his reason to celebrate the Passover with his disciples and a meal will bring us together as we break bread and celebrate that in the brokenness of Christ body\, we are whole. \nPlease let the office know if you are planning to come by Monday\, April 3rd\, so we can have enough food to share. Invite a friend\, everyone is welcome!

SUMMARY:Palm Sunday
DESCRIPTION:When we look deeper into the context of this story\, we uncover how two parades are occurring at once. Jesus’ unconventional and unexpected entry into the city parallels the extravagant parade of Pilate\, the Roman governor. As both leaders enter the city for the Passover\, they embody different directions. Pilate commands military dominance and imperial power; Jesus ushers in the kingdom of God and the way of peace. Within the chaos and commotion of this scene\, which leader will you follow? Jesus’ journey to the cross should always catch us off- guard. As dismayed as the disciples\, we ask\, “Jesus\, are you really headed this way\, straight to your death?” Many of our weekly questions throughout the season so far have helped us prepare spiritually for Holy Week. Now we examine if our beliefs have changed our behaviors. Has your path changed? In the midst of opposing forces\, which way will you go?

SUMMARY:Ash Wednesday CANCELLED
DESCRIPTION:Due to weather concerns we have cancelled our in person Ash Wednesday Service. We will be posting a pre-recorded\, abbreviated version of the service on our Youtube channel and Facebook page tonight at 7pm. Check in our “Messages” page at 7pm for a post containing the link to the video and abbreviated bulletin so you can follow along with the service! \nBegin Lent with Ash Wednesday service at 7pm on 2/22. This service will also kick off our Lenten series with: Is this the fast that I choose? As we begin our series\, we must examine if our actions match what we profess. As we practice seeking this Lent\, what kind of fast will you choose? How will you live your faith? How will you live the questions of your faith? In our spiritual practices\, will we seek to loose the bonds of injustice\, to undo the thongs of the yoke\, to let the oppressed go free\, and to break every yoke? (Isaiah 58:6)

SUMMARY:Company's Coming Advent 2022
DESCRIPTION:Who doesn’t like Advent? It is a season of excitement and anticipation and joy. Lots and lots of joy. Even when we acknowledge that we aren’t ready for what is coming\, for the realm that is promised\, for the kin-dom we hope for. We admit we have fallen short; we confess that we are wrapped up in ourselves and in things that don’t last; we admit that our watchful waiting has fallen by the wayside. And yet\, in this season\, there is joy. And we have a sense that we can start all over again\, because “Company Is Coming.”

SUMMARY:Not Ashamed Sermon Series
DESCRIPTION:October is an odd oasis in the liturgical rhythms of many churches. Some focus on stewardship; but for many\, October is the last breath before the holiday season to come and the changing of liturgical seasons and years. To fill this space\, then\, we present a worship series titled “Not Ashamed” based on the Epistle readings through the month of October. The lectionary walks through the second epistle to Timothy\, giving us some of the highlights of this powerful but short letter. This October can be the perfect time to help the congregation along the discipleship path by shoring up their faith with a worship series designed to help declare that we are not ashamed.
