DESCRIPTION:The Kat Trio comes to Crossroads! \nAbout: This unique classical ensemble known as the Ekaterinburg Classical Trio\, aka the Kat Trio\, was born in the summer of 1998 in Ekaterinburg\, Russia. Vasil Galiulin\, Victoria Gorbich\, and Vladislav Gorbich\, all graduates of the Ural State Conservatory\, decided to take their love of music and their violin-clarinet-piano arrangements to festivals and concert venues throughout the Urals. They spent much of that summer playing to enthusiastic audiences in town halls and indoor stages. \nThe audience feedback was encouraging\, even inspiring\, all the while reinforcing the overpowering feeling that their calling was to take their new impressions of classical music and their heartfelt performances to a much greater audience. Their first US tour in the spring of 2000 was a major success and these world class players return as often as possible to play for their appreciative American audiences. \nOn the Kat Trio’s 2006 Tour of the US\, violinist Victoria Gorbich and clarinetist Vladislav Gorbich were joined by pianist Viatcheslav Ovchinnikov. Like Victoria and Vlad\, Viatcheslav (nickname: Slava) is a graduate of Ural State Conservatory in Ekaterinburg. \nDuring their work on doctorates at Arizona State University\, Victoria and Vladislav Gorbich were joined by pianist Mauricio Arias\, from Bogata\, Columbia\, a graduate of Fundacion Universitaria Juan N. Corpas\, for two tours. \nVictoria and Vladislav were touring during the summer of 2010 with Patrick Christians\, a graduate of Michigan State University\, as guest pianist. \nDuring 2011-2012\, the Kat Trio was touring as artists-in-residence with Wisconsin Public Radio and the Chazen Museum of Art. For that tour Victoria and Vladislav were joined by pianist Julie Page\, a graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Madison. \nPianist Melody Ng was a member of the trio from October 2012 till June 2013. She received her doctoral degree at the University of Wisconsin – Madison and joined the music faculty of the University of Alabama in Huntsville. \nDuring the summer of 2013 Heidi Wiskur was a guest pianist with the group. She continues to collaborate with Victoria and Vladislav in 2013 and 2014. \nJustin Snyder has been performing with Vladislav and Victoria since fall of 2013. Justin moved to Michigan in early summer of 2014. \nToday “The Kat Trio” is Victoria Gorbich\, Vladislav Gorbich and pianist Joseph Ross. They are on the road presenting the trio’s unique Russian arrangements and transcriptions of timeless melodies. The Trio’s concerts feature classical works\, well-known inspirational songs\, and even American pop standards\, including Scott Joplin’s rags.

DESCRIPTION:Bring your family on Sunday Sept 29 for a community picnic and dedication of the new playground equipment on the Crossroad’s United Methodist church grounds. The playground was a gift from the Thompson Family in memory of Sandy Thompson\, a long time resident of Waunakee\, former teacher\, and volunteer at Arboretum and Frank Allis Elementary Schools. Food and Fun starts at 11AM with a short dedication ceremony shortly thereafter. Come for lunch\, check out the playground\, and join in family-friendly yard games.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for the UMW Fall Retreat at Pine Lake Camp. Our topic this year is Women United in Change\, 150 Years in Mission by Ellen Blue. Our speaker is Laura Pfeffer\, the UMW Southwest district President. The retreat will be September 27th to September 29th. We can arrive after 3pm on the 27th\, dinner will be at 6:30\, we will leave for home by noon on the 29th. All you need to bring for the this retreat is your bible\, sleeping bag\, clothes and toiletries\, bring an item with you representing your connection to mission or to a women’s mission organization (this is a request from our speaker)\, and of course your lovely self! DESCRIPTION:All are invited to the Sunday Morning Adult Study. We meet at 8:30 am – 9:15 am in the large group room. We will be using NOOMA. NOOMA is a series of short films (10 to 14 minutes) featuring Christian teacher Rob Bell. The films promote spiritual reflections on individual life experiences from a Christian perspective. DESCRIPTION:Crossroads invites the community to come hear guest performer\, Miles McConnell\, on Sunday\, June 16\, 2019. \nClassical guitarist Miles McConnell has a deep love for classical works and also holds a serious connection to American standards and inspirational music.  Miles holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. \nFor 8 years following graduation\, Miles served on the music faculty at Clarke University and Loras College (both in Dubuque\, Iowa). Miles taught applied guitar at both institutions\, and American Music\, Music Appreciation\, and World Music at Clarke\, and Music Theory at Loras.  Since late 2017\, Miles has been working as a Sheet Music Specialist with Musicnotes.com\, the world’s largest e-commerce sheet music retailer and publisher. \nMiles enjoys performing and spending time in the recording studio. DESCRIPTION:In Entering The Passion of Jesus: A Beginners Guide to Holy Week\, author\, professor\, and biblical scholar Amy-Jill Levine delves into the history and literature surrounding the last days of Jesus’ life. Levine sets the narrative in historical context and analyzes the risks and motives of the story’s characters. \nFrom Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem to his prayerful agony in Gethsemane\, Lavine brings forward aspects and details that open doors for beginners as well as seasoned readers of the Bible. She show how the context raises ethical and spiritual questions for the reader\, and how we all face risk in our Christian experience. \nThis bible study will meet in the Large Group Room in the basement of the church. This bible study will have two different groups. One group will meet Wednesday MORNINGS at 10 am. The other group will meet Wednesday EVENINGS for Soup and Study at 5:45pm. Both groups start on March 13th and go until the Wednesday before Easter. \n  \n  \n\n\n\n
