Earth Day – Day of Service
On Sunday, April 23rd, we will not have a worship service at Crossroads. Instead, we are asking for people to join in an Earth Day project that day. Two different projects have been planned during our normal time of worship. Read the details below to see how to participate and how to donated needed supplies for that day.
Into the Woods
Aid in removing invasive plants, clearing branches and obstructions on walking paths and pick up garbage in the Arboretum Woods located between BrightStar Care Facility and the entrance to the Arboretum Village Neighborhood. Meet in the BrightStar Parking Lot (1001 Quin Dr. Waunakee to the west of Crossroads UMC off of Arboretum Dr) at 9:30am Sun Apr 23rd, for some coffee, food and instructions to prepare for the work that day. Bring gardening gloves and wear attire appropriate for time in the woods. Tools needed will be provided and bathrooms will be available as needed.
Seeds of Love
Come to Laubmeier Park (1155 Prairie View Drive, Waunakee – in new Arboretum Village Neighborhood to the north of Crossroads UMC just off of Hogan Rd) at 9:30am on Sun Apr 23rd to plant your own herbs and vegetable seeds in starter “pods” and then help plant seeds in pots to be given to assisted living residents in the Waunakee Area. Please bring paper egg cartons, gardening gloves if you don’t want to get muddy, a trowel if you have one, and appropriate clothing. Coffee and snacks will be provided.
Donations of paper egg cartons (Styrofoam and plastic cartons cannot be used) and 6-8” clay or reusable pots are needed and appreciated. You can bring your donations that day or can be brought to Crossroads any time before Sun Apr 23rd. If the church is not open, place your donations by the front door.
We plan to hold this event even if it is lightly raining. If we have severe weather, we will move the Seeds of Love event to the basement of Crossroads Church (5901 Hogan Rd, Waunakee) and will reschedule the Day in the Woods.
Again, there will be NO worship service at Crossroads on Sunday, April 23rd. Please use the time you would have been in worship, in service for the care of the earth and our community.
