Music affects us. It connects to something deep within. This fact was not lost on those who wrote the Psalms. They knew the importance of joining a powerful message to music. However, over time the messages carried through the music have changed. Or have they?
Through this six-week growth group, we will listen and examine the lyrics of songs from various generations and styles. We’ll discuss the message behind the music and how they mirror scripture or fly in the face of God’s teachings. What messages are these artists trying to get across? Are they appropriate? When we sing along to these songs, what is it that we are saying? Do we even know? Let’s find out the answers to these questions together.
NOTE: There may be some explicit language discussed within the context of the music and therefore it is recommended that attendees be at least 13 years or older.
